Aptar Pharma's multidose device delivers anti-CoV nasal spray

  Aptar Pharma , a global leader in drug delivery systems, services, and active material science solutions, has announced that its VP7 nasal multidose device is the delivery system for Hibiocy’s Vaill Covitrap anti-CoV nasal spray, which was recently approved by the Thailand Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The Vaill Covitrap Anti-CoV nasal spray has been developed and classified as a medical device through the joint efforts of Chulalongkorn University, Silpakorn University, the Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) and Hibiocy, an affiliate of Roujukiss International PCL (KISS).  The nasal spray using Aptar Pharma’s innovative VP7multidose technology has been launched under the tradename Vaill Covitrap Anti CoV Nasal Spray”, a hypromellose-based (HPMC) nasal spray solution containing human  IgG1 anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. Famenity launches MR-10 to alleviate andropause symptoms

  Famenity , a research and development corporation that develops natural medicinal products , has launched the MR-10, which is a natural dietary ingredient blend composed of botanical bioactive compounds extracted from Korean dandelion and rooibos. In a series of published, peer-reviewed in vitro , in vivo , and human clinical studies, researchers found that MR-10 exerted significant improvements in alleviating various male andropause symptoms, up-regulating serum testosterone levels, and increasing sperm count and activity, the company said in a release. According to the company, in addition to proven efficacy, a suite of toxicology studies were conducted on MR-10 and found that it is a safe, nontoxic ingredient with no adverse effects reported. Alzheimer's drug lecanemab slows cognitive decline in clinical trial

  Eisai, a Japanese pharmaceutical company headquartered in Tokyo, and American multinational Biogen have released the results from their phase III clinical trial of lecanemab , showing that the drug can slow cognitive decline in patients suffering with Alzheimer’s disease.  Lecanemab is an investigational anti-amyloid beta protofibril antibody used to treat mild cognitive impairment that occurs due to Alzheimer’s disease and early Alzheimer’s disease with amyloid pathology in the brain. The trial, conducted over 18 months, was a multi-center, double-blind trial including 1,795 patients from 50–90 years of age with early Alzheimer’s disease with amyloid, the CPHI online reported.  The efficacy of the drug was based on endpoints of a change in score on the Clinical Dementia Rating–Sum of Boxes (CDR-SB) from baseline, and a change in amyloid burden as shown by positron-emission tomography (PET).  In the case of both endpoints, lecanemab appeared to reduce the amyloid burden in early Alz

Doctors report increase in cases of avascular necrosis

  Incidences of avascular necrosis, or death of the bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply, have notably risen in the last year, suggests patient data from Artemis Hospital, Gurugram. The use of steroids increased during the Covid-19 pandemic period to reduce the severity of the infection and was an important life-saving measure. However, it resulted in increased cases of hip pain and disability. The Hospital has witnessed a 20% increase in AVN cases, and the requirement for surgery increased by roughly 20% in the last year.  Dr Ramkinkar Jha, chief and unit head – of Orthopaedics, at Artemis Hospital Gurugram, said, “Incidences of avascular necrosis of the femoral head (hip) have increased in the last two years.  Steroids are one of the known factors causing avascular necrosis of the femoral head (hip joint). Tata 1mg starts drone delivery in Dehradun

  Digital health platform Tata 1mg has established its presence in Uttarakhand by launching three integrated pharmacy and diagnostics stores and a diagnostic lab in Dehradun. The company has also started a drone service pilot for the faster collection and delivery of diagnostic samples and medicines – avoiding delays due to road traffic. The drones will be used to collect medical samples from across the city and transport them to the Tata 1mg lab for processing, as well as deliver medicines to distant areas. A single drone will be able to carry a payload of up to 150 samples. All components of the sample transportation supply chain, including drones, will be temperature-controlled and equipped with technology to continuously monitor temperature during the flight to the lab. Tanmay Saksena, chief operating officer, Tata 1mg, said: "Due to its location advantage, fast-developing economy, and robust infrastructure, Dehradun was a natural choice to expand our operations in the North
